Race strategy and training

Postby Troy the boy » Mon Jul 29, 2013 10:33 pm

Hi Guys,

I was the lad in the blue hoody on the committee boat this weekend. I volunteered to get up close to the racing to get a better understanding of the whole scene before I start racing myself.

I raced competitively at an international level throughout my teens and for the past few years have coached high performance sailing also at an international level.

After hanging out with you guys I realized a lot of you have no racing background and think that I could help. I'd be happy to show you how to break down your training as a racer and show you how to put together a strategy before a race taking into consideration tide, meteorology, topography etc...

Anyways if you're keen give me a shout, if not no worries.

Troy

Hey Troy,

Thank you for the help during the WCO. Good of you to come out on the signal boat.

I'm thinking you may not have many takers on race coaching this late in the season. Everyone is just winding down from racing after the Nationals/WCO.

I'd like to talk with you more about this sometime though.

Bernie was a top top level collegiate sailor.

A large % of the fleet have sailed at the international level in Olympic class boats.

Ain't no joke.
