any suggestions on fixing Custom Fish kiting surfboard

Postby wavylevel » Sat Jan 06, 2024 7:09 am

I have a 2010 Naish Custom Fish kiting surfboard that took some damage couple of months week in Los Barriles . It looks like a twin tip fin got pushed through the base of the board somehow. I didn't see it happen though so not really sure.

Anyway, according to the web this board has these characteristics:
- Hand shaped EPS core
- Top and bottom decks are covered in composite laminates that overlap on the rails; on top of the composite laminates there’s high-density, closed-cell foam that fully wraps the board.

So, I'm not sure what the best approach is to dealing with the damage. Likely just a surface hardening resin. I've used Sun Cure UV hardening resin in the past for other purposes.

Can anyone make any suggestions for what would work best here?

I have used Solarez (light cured epoxy resin) on several boards with good success. It seems to offer a permenant repair on most types of board construction. Your board is quite old and so a quick repair with this stuff should be appropriate for repairing it.
