I just got back from kiting in Oahu and had some amazing sessions there, mostly in Kailua Bay. It was super super windy and there was even a wind warning issued at the time (30kts+). Anyway, one day I decided to try a new spot that I read about that was a bit closer to Waikiki. I launched from Wai-alae Beach Park on Kahala Beach. It's rated as intermediate/expert because (1) the wind is gusty since it comes over land by Koko head/crater further east, and (2) there's a shallow inner reef with only one channel out to get to the outer/bigger waves that break in deeper water.
I got some pointers from a local before going out but still ended up missing the channel on one of my return tacks and rode over an extremely shallow reef which shredded one of my fins. It took about 5mm off I'd say. I honestly can't tell one fin is shorter when I'm riding but wondering if there is a simple DIY fix here? (see pics)
The board is a 2014 Cabrinha Skillit 5'10" with stock fins (Futures fin box). I don't seem to be able to buy a single replacement fin from Cabrinha. I guess I can shell out $150 for a whole new set but just hoping for something to patch it up for the short-term.
You can try search on YouTube. But you can sand off a little, put some masking tape from one side, pour eposy resin or Solarex. Sand off again when it harden.
You can search on https://wtfbc.ca/, how some one made weed fins from regular fins. It's same thing.
