Kiters are usually faster and more maneuverable than other sailing craft and in my opinion should always give other craft the right of way and never interfere with any race. Let's try to be courteous and respectful out there. I received this email from Mike Cotter, the head of the Jericho Sailing Centre. CG
Subject: Right of Way Rules
Ahoy Chris: I hope all is going well for you and you’ve been enjoying this awesome wind and weather on the water.
Could you please provide some clarity with respect to right of way rules between kites and other sail powered craft? Yesterday the wind was out of the west 20+ knots and for the first time we experienced several kites coming through our Sunday Racing course crossing tacks with F-18s and other craft. This kiteboarding site says kites: “#5 give way to other craft” Is this correct? https://www.ikointl.com/blog/know-and-h ... -etiquette If not correct, could you steer me in the direction of a better definition? We will gladly display signage and educate our users via our website, newsletters and social media to avoid any accidents. Fair winds, Mike
