I looked around here and couldn't find a thread: I am reposting from a Vancouver windsurfing slack channel
Harbour Air is trying to build a float plane terminal at Nexen. Please go and leave a comment on their development application saying that this conflicts with windsports users sailing off Nexen. They tried to hush hush this without public hearings so Friday is the last day to leave a comment – do it now please, it's just a web form, it doesn't need to be a long essay. If floatplanes will be operating around Nexen, windsurfing will likely be banned there for safety. If you don't say anything now, yet another nice sailing spot might be lost. Search for 2020-22 on http://squamish.ca/showcase then click "Request a public information meeting or submit a comment about this project". https://www.facebook.com/groups/1030132 ... 384850281/
It is important to note that float planes will not take off and land during the windy parts of the day when kiting and windsurfing take place, they will be doing tours out of the squamish so this will be in the early mornings when there is no wind. Harbour Air owner is a kiter and sup foiler so he is not interested in shutting out two sports he loves. The base is planned for the inside channel where the sailing school operated out of.
