I'm not looking forward to finding out. I've had the kite fall in the water when the wind dropped to zero at Jericho, and after 5-10 minutes it relaunched without a fuss when the wind came back. But another time, in waist-deep water, I walked over to the downed kite and tried to straighten it out. That got water inside and my session was over.

I think the kite is relaunchable most of the time, and it has the advantage of no bladder deflation risk, but it will be a major problem if the kite ever does get waterlogged offshore for some reason. Time will tell how likely that is to happen.

Best regards,
James

Well, the SA is actually just the teaser. The CLBMFMD finally arrived last night at 10:45 pm.

Here is James latest addition to his light wind toy collection (the board he has in the backseat, not the car).

that picture rendered everyone speechless.

The question is....which toy is the most precious? The kite, the board or the car?

P.S. weren't 'suicide doors' outlawed after the Lincoln's of the mid 60's?

Last summer at Nitinat, I was able to fly the SA 19m Speed, and the 26m Flysurfer Psycho 2 back to back. Definately the Speed was an easier to fly kite, had much more depower, and could loop... The 26m was a beast of a kite, but had more low end pull.... Don't worry about moving the 26 to generate power... just park and go.... I ended up buying a used 26m, and have used it from time to time in the really light stuff... Pretty much park and ride.... and edge... Because of its size and potential power... and gusts... this kite can be pretty challenging to ride... which makes those 8kt days kind of exciting.

Just checked out the website for flysurfer and they have some amazing light wind 5knots on the 26m physco2.

I have been totally SOLD on Flysurfers !!!

I started with a psycho II 10m. It was a good kite. The build quality and technology blew me away. Very nice and very tunable but not the best kite I had ever flown.

I picked up a 7m Pulse and was once again blown away. The most responsive / intuitive kite I have ever had hands on !!
The Pulse II is even better and I would HIGHLY recommend it to any beginer. Tons of pop and float so it's a kite you will never grow out of ! I can get going on this kite in 7kts of wind on an ATB or Blades on land although it's more work than fun. I still haven't found a top end.

I have a 13m Psycho 3 arriving anyday. I only weigh 145lbs and am hoping it will be a low wind monster

Flysurfer was questionable in it's flying characteristics until recently. 2006 and newer kites are , as flysurfers motto says, Ahead Of Their Time !!!
James,
How do you feel the material on the SA would stand up on land ?
Still lovin' the Coyote Rollerblades you suggested ! Took them up to about 33mph at NABX this spring Totally comfortable and totllay in control I'm certian I'll hit 40 soon :D

Looks fine to me but I wouldn't want to get it wrapped around a tree or something, especailly with all those bridles.

Sounds like a riot. I haven't used mine for a while. I'll have to try 'em with the big kite.

Cheers,
James

The New Pulse II has a shorter and less complicated bridle. Another way Flysurfer is getting better and better !

At Nininat... I saw the 19 SA get caught in a tree.... right before the course race.... I thought the kite would have been totalled...but no.. it was actually fine..
I like the 26 for super duper light stuff... but I hate the bridles, and don't like it when it collapses in lulls or gusty winds...

The 13mPsycho III arrived yesterday and I got to see it's full range ! It will leave me wanting a SA for the very low winds ( although my 9m Blade does a good job there ) What amazed me was how high a wind I can fly it in. TONS of depower ! It will hold until I need the 7m Pulse 8)

What was the new kite you got on Fri. James ????

I didn't get a new kite other than the SA, but did get a big, carbon-laminate skimboard a couple weeks ago. It goes upwind in about 6 knots - a good alternative to sitting on the beach waiting for wind; not a replacement for 7-9 m kiting at Squamish.
