Tsawwassen - North side of the road

Postby Campbell » Tue Jan 05, 2021 5:02 pm

Hey guys

Still a beginner at kiteboarding even though I have been trying at this sport forever. The luxury of disposable time meets windy days has escaped me far too often or showing up just in time to set my gear up and have the wind die down.

I noticed people kiting on the south side of the road at Tsawwassen however never seen anyone on the North side. Seems when the winds are coming out of the South that the water is smoother on the North side of the road

Is there a reason nobody kites on the North side of the road at Tsawwassen?

Thanks
Campbell

I would say that winds from the south would make the North side of the road offshore; most don't like to kite with offshore winds - especially if you are a beginner/intermediate kiter.

In the summer that location would get more North westerly winds however it could be super shallow there; even in a mid ride. I also noticed that there is almost no beach at all in high tide on the north side, so even with a north westerly you could end up in the highway if you get into trouble. I agree with you that looks very flat and tempting!

I never kite there but that would be my guess. Hope some of the regulars can give us some input.

Cheers
G
