I've just moved to Vancouver from Scotland and wanted to say hi and ask a few questions.
First, I need to get hold of a harness, does anyone have suggestions for kite shops around Vancouver?
Two, it sounds like Squamish is the best spot near here. Can anyone suggest the best source for weather information or got any tips on predicting when it is best to head up there? How predictable is the wind? Is it possible to know a few days in advance or is it a case of just having a look in the morning?
Finally, is this the main forum for Kiters in Vancouver or are there any others I should check out?
Squamish wind is forecast well in advance. You look at the temperature gradient from Vancouver to Lillooet. There is a link in the tools page on this site.
Thanks guys, I'm staying on the UBC campus so Airtime is pretty convenient for me, I'll check them out.
In terms of the forecast for this weekend, from what I can see there isn't much of a difference in temp forecast for the weekend so I'm guessing its not really worth the effort heading up on Saturday?
Thanks El Fuego, I was keeping an eye on it but unfortunately I only have a 9m at the moment and I don't think it would have been enough. Did you get out and what size were you on?
