NOTICE OF RACE 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing including Appendix BB 1.2 The following prescriptions of the Canadian national authority will not apply: Appendix G – Identification on Sails. 1.3 Racing rule 35 will be changed as follows: The time limit for the first finisher in a race is 45 minutes. Competitors failing to finish within 15 minutes after the first competitor sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish without a hearing. This change will appear in full in the sailing instructions. The sailing instructions may also change other racing rules. 1.5 If there is a conflict between the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions (SI’s) the SI’s shall take precedence. 2 ADVERTISING Competitors may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 3 ELIGIBILITY, ENTRY and FEES 3.1 All earthlings and strange beings from other galaxies are all welcome as long as they are members of a National Kiteboarding Class Association which is a paid up member of the IKA. 3.2 Beginning May 18th, 2012 eligible competitors may enter the 4 race series by completing the Entry Form online at http://www.squamishwindsports.com/event ... _Entry.php 3.3 The entry fee is $15 for one day or $25 for both days. Payment shall be made in cash at Registration on the day of racing. 3.4 Novice Racers who have not previously entered a SWS race, or other IKA races, are exempt from NOR 3.1 and 3.3. No fees, or membership in a National Kiteboarding Class are required. For a $20 deposit novice racers will be supplied with a numbered race jersey to use for their first day.
4 CLASSES, EQUIPMENT, PRIZES 4.1 All types of kiteboards may compete. 4.2 The classes will be: • Men’s Class • Women’s Class • Old Men With Gray, Or Hint of Grey, Hair or Facial Hair • Strange Beings From Other Galaxies 4.3 All classes will start and race together. 4.4 Prizes shall consist of Bragging Rights granted to the top finishers in each class 5 SCHEDULE 5.1 Registration will take place at the event site between 10:30 and 10:45 at the event site Saturday Sept. 15th and Sunday September 16th 5.2 A mandatory Competitor’s Meeting will be held at 11:00 each race day 5.3 Dates of racing are Saturday Sept. 15th and Sunday Sept. 16th 5.4 A maximum of 6 races per day will be run. 5.5 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 12:00. 6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS SI’s will be emailed to local racers, posted on KiteboardBC, and be posted at the Spit on race day. 7 VENUE 7.1 The event will be held at the Squamish Spit, Squamish B.C. 9 DAILY SERIES SCORING 9.1 Rule A4.1 Low Point Scoring will be used. 9.2 If at least one race is completed on any race day, that race day will be scored as a Daily Series to determine the daily winners and rankings. 9.2 Rule A2 will be changed if four or more races are run on a race day, so that each kiteboard’s Daily Series score shall be the total of their race scores, excluding the worst score that day.
10 END OF SUMMER KITEBOARD INTERGALACTIC COURSE RACING SERIES SCORING 10.1 To determine the End of Summer Series winner and placings, each kiteboard shall score points as follows: Ranking in Daily Series Points First 1 Second 2 Third 3 Each rank thereafter Add 1 point The kiteboard with the lowest points wins and others shall be placed accordingly. 10.3 Rule A9, Race Scores in a Series Longer Than A Regatta, will apply when scoring the Summer Series. 10.4 The last sentence in rule A9 shall be changed to; A kiteboard that Did Not Rig (DNR) for racing at the event site shall be scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of boats entered in the summer series. 11 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race.
