In order to destroy Spit by any means they are using the first nation and salmon as a sheld...Same as terrorists do using children and vomen... No compassion on those faces. What is the compassion?
"The definition of compassion, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is the "sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it."
The Spit has “outstanding universal value" as a unic and outstanding place!!! And should be protected by UNESCO~
What does it mean to be protected by UNESCO? World Heritage site, any of various areas or objects inscribed on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List. The sites are designated as having “outstanding universal value” under the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

if "they" really want to help salmon -the openning+bridge has to be here- https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=25 ... 8914&set=g. see marked zone on the first picture. This is a zone of the maximum VELOCITY speed of the river stream (flow). . It will create much more wetland for salmon. And It should be regulated inlet gate -so it can be opened or closed then needed.
SAVE THe SPIT- IT IS NOT LATE YET!!! https://vimeo.com/572014996 Do not destroy, but build the bridge+water gate. I am trying to address this message to those wonderful people, who at the beginning wanted to destroy the Spit and who will be responsible at the end for the coming future catastrophe. They are: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10 ... 37655221... https://www.piquenewsmagazine.com/.../squamish-spit... https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/.../squamish-spit... https://squamish.ca/yourgovernment/council/ https://letstalkscience.ca/careers/edith-tobe#advise https://www.squamishchief.com/.../disma ... squamish... To my understanding the best way to create win-win situation for fish and kiters is to make channel and create huge area of wetland for juvenile salmon. The idea is shown on the first picture attached . The river's flow (stream) has maximum angular Velocty at the max river's bend Radius, which will help salmon to get fast through future openning to that wetland area. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angular_velocity Qtherwise, destroying the Spit will create area of disaster for kiters, boats, kayaks and for juvenile salmon as well-that fish will be thrown into the TERMINAL AREA -not to the wetland, which actually is on the far left of the Spit-(see second picture) . Plus TONS of SAND and DEBRIES will be constantly migrating around Terminal and the Island as well... Also, new type of water dangerous sirculations will be generated around that Island and appendix ,which will be left from Spit road, by new landscape geometry which will not be safe even for advansed kiters. https://www.facebook.com/.../a.78817927 ... 559909343/ In the 21-st century you can build any type and size of bridge or water gate using precast concrete blocks. It's cheap and effective. AND I AM PRETTY SHURE THAT $1,5 m OF TAXPAYERS MONEY WILL DO THE JOB. #1) Watch "Mueller Water Products | Fabricated Slide Gate" on YouTube https://youtu.be/LIxB-PnMd0k #2) Watch "Best Use Precast Concrete Innovative Bridge Design - Arroyo Veleño Bridge" on YouTube https://youtu.be/NFL6AHk9NF0 #3) Very simple concrete box for bridge structure- How does a precast concrete box culvert work? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mez0J8qgZuIIt And it's very simple-that chanel with the water gate could be open once a year for a few moths and closed for the rest of the year. And at last... No one wants to stand up to defence the Spit? Why is it? 99.99% of brave jumpers just watching quetly from the side, https://www.bing.com/search... God bless you all.

Conclusion: "For years, since 2017, the Squamish public was lied to with promises of spit realignment, but SRWS and DFO never had any intention to realign the spit. Despite their public proclamations that spit realignment was determined to be not feasible, in reality there were precisely zero studies to determine that. Behind the scenes, their efforts and studies were focused on removing the spit even while they were advertising realignment in public......"
\This is a zone of the maximum VELOCITY speed of the river stream (flow). And it will be chiper than to remove 300 metres of Spit. This will help to create as much wetland for fish as they need...And It should be regulated inlet gate -so it can be opened or closed then needed.
Here’s my reason for keeping the spit open.... In 2011 a very close friend of mine had a massive heart attack and died at the age of 40. He was big water sports guy, loved the ocean and did everything on it and in it. He encouraged me to try kiteboarding but with a young family at the time I was unable to make the commitment. When his funeral service was over his dad gave me one of his kites. He said that Mark would have wanted me to have this. I was so full of emotion, I felt that I let my buddy down by denying his invitations to learn how to kiteboard and go kiteboarding with him. On the fight back to BC I knew that I had to take up the sport in his honour. The closest place that offered lessons was in Squamish. So I booked a long weekend of lessons and got absolutely thrashed on the water. My instructor said that he never saw anyone do the superman that far. On the third day I was finally riding, it wasn’t pretty but I was finally able to relax and think about my friend who I lost. I new he was there with me while I was kiting, I could feel his presence.
I have been kiting ever since and after 10 years returned to the spit last summer as a seasoned veteran.
The spit is more than just a place to launch a kite, it’s a place where dreams come true, where one can find peace, where one can find redemption. We all know how short and fragile life is. I believe the spit saved me from depression. It helped me to move on and conquer my demons. I’m better for it. Taking the spit away would deny people from being their better selves.
I honestly don’t see the logic in removing the access. If someone can tell me why I’m all ears.
