Summary: WindAlert App is now is open to beta testers for android phones. It is pretty bare as far as features are concerned ( no alerts yet ).
------- Welcome to the first beta test of windAlert for Android. Thanks for volunteering! Here are the steps to install the app: Download http://www.weatherflow.com/WindAlert.apk and save it to the SD card on your Android device. Install the app. If you don't already have an app manager/installer, look for a free one in the Android Market - search for "Installer" or "Apps Installer" Note: Depending on your device and carrier, you may need to activate 3rd-party apps, and there may be other installation methods.
Here are some of the things the app does: search for wind spots; create a list of favorite spots; view current conditions; view past six hours (observations) on a wind graph; view next six hours (forecast) on a wind graph; set units.
There are no maps, profiles or alerts yet, but these features are on deck for future releases.
We're looking for any feedback you might have, but especially bugs and defects in user experience or functionality. We've tried to shake out all of the major bugs in this first beta release. But it's still possible the app will crash. If that happens, please take these steps: Explain what you did in as much detail as possible so we can attempt to duplicate it. Let us know who your carrier is, what hardware device you have, and what version of Android O/S is installed on it. Send your feedback to: android-beta@weatherflow.com (or just reply to this message) After you've had a chance to install and test it, please send us your feedback by replying directly to this email. We're hoping to have everyone's feedback in a week or so.
If you have a friend who might be willing to help out, please sign them up here (or give them this address to sign themselves up): http://eepurl.com/TBAA (they will receive a confirmation email)
