Hey everyone, I never thought I would say this but I'm getting tired and bored of kiting alone and need new folks to get me pumped. We're only a two hour flight away from Vancouver and have amazing conditions and pristine beaches with easy access for safe downwinders. Also, because we're on an island, we can kite any direction. And when there's no wind (rarely), there's SUP, kayak, surf and of course...fishing. We would love if more kiters visited us so leave your crowded spot behind for a week or two and come kite with us at the Edge of the world.
We've created a Haida Gwaii kitesurfing FB page. We're a small group but we've started to post when and where we're out. Feel free to join if you're visiting or just curious.
Pacific coastal flies into Masset and Air Canada flies into Sandspit. They're both great options. Sandspit is a bit more remote but traveling to and from the main island is easy with a 20 min ferry. If you Google it you'll find lots of info on traveling here. I can fill the gaps for the kiting, since there's really no information around
I'm super rusty but interested in coming out. I'll be basing from Port Ed summers starting next summer and have a chunk of land in the mouth of the skeena and a 35' trimaran currently based out of the Port Ed marina.
Would love to receive you here and potentially explore the area with you. I'm no navigator but I've been told the Hecate and Dixon Entrance are pretty treacherous to navigate. I'm in Masset where the NW are great.. and we kite near Tlell on SE. Unfortunately other spots are often in a wind shadow. But truly an amazing kite destination for anyone who likes uncrowded spots.
