Hi, long time windsurfer and kiter from Buenos Aires here. I will sail the gulf islands on a charter with my family and will bring my foil and kites, just in case I find a proper spot, and some wind. There is a post about the islands and spots below, read it already. I see that you use 4/3 wetsuits even in July near Vancouver, due to the glaciers. Is it that cold in the gulf is. as well? I was thinking on a spring suit, we have similar air/water temperatures in patagonia during our Summer. Bad idea? Thanks, Greg
Hi Greg For most places around here In July and August the water is warmer. I was kiting two days ago in a 3/2 wetsuit and I felt plenty warm. You should be fine in a light spring wetsuit in the gulf islands. Squamish is the only spot where the water can be colder because the river there is fed by snow cover still in the mountains.
